9th IWH-CIREQ Macroeconometric Workshop:
Challenges of forecasting in applied macroeconometrics

The Halle Institute for Economic Research and the Centre Interuniversitaire de Recherche en Economie Quantitative organized the 9th Macroeconometric Workshop in Halle on December 4 – 5, 2008.

Forecasting is a key tool in applied macroeconometrics. However, occurrences like the subprime crisis are a great challenge for forecasting. On the one hand, it is of interest whether a crisis will occur or not. On the other hand, the forecasts of real or financial variables might be disturbed by crisis’ or other instabilities. Both facets should be addressed by the workshop. It is aimed to bring together academic researchers and practitioners.
