Andreas Schmalzbauer joined the IWH in May 2014 as a PhD student in the field of Empirical Macroeconomics, focusing on monetary policy and international macroeconomics. Before, he worked as a research and teaching assistant at RWTH Aachen University for the Chair of Professor Rüdiger Bachmann.
He graduated from Paris School of Economics in 2010 (MSc "Analyse et Politique Économiques") after studying at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Wayne State University and the University of Bonn.
