Hosted by the Halle Institute for Economic Research, this conference brings together leading economists and policymakers to present and discuss new research on East–West Germany’s economic transformation, and the lessons it offers for growth, innovation, and convergence in Europe. Marking the culmination of the research programme supported by the Max Planck Humboldt Research Award, the event will showcase frontier evidence based on newly digitised historical archives, firm-level data, and modern economic analysis.
