Saleh Zakerinia joined the institute in January 2026. He is also Assistant Professor of Finance and Labour at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. His research focuses innovation and the economics of digitization, with particular emphasis on AI. He studies how firms adopt new technologies, how digitization reshapes work and skill demand, and the implications for productivity and labour markets.
Saleh Zakerinia received his bachelor's degree from University of Tehran and his master's degree from University of California at Davis. He received his doctorate from Cornell University. Prior to joining IWH, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Digital Data Design Institute at Harvard Business School.
