student assistant (f/m/x) for 40 hours a month

The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association is seeking to hire a student assistant (f/m/x) for 40 hours a month to support the research groups “Macroeconomic Analyses and Forecasts” and “Econometric Tools for Macroeconomic Forecasting and Simulation” in the Department of Macroeconomics as well as the Chair for Macroeconomics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The contract will initially be limited until March 31, 2023, but an extension is desired.
We offer students of economics, in particular economics and business studies or related courses, the opportunity to gain insights into applied economic research.

  • literature review
  • data preparation
  • support empirical analyses of macroeconomic time series
  • support teaching activities

Qualifications and requirements

  • secure handling of MS-Office applications, especially MS Excel
  • diligence in data and bibliographic work
  • basic experience in the application of statistics and econometrics software (e.g. EViews, R, Stata or Matlab) is desirable but not necessary
  • interest in quantitative research questions and econometrics; basic skills in macroeconometric methods are an advantage
  • basic experience in the application of LaTeX is desirable
