Governance & Structure

The IWH Center for Business and Productivity Dynamism (IWH-CBPD), led by Center Chief Javier Miranda, hosts the CompNet Network and its related activities. The governance framework connects a range of stakeholders to provide strategic guidance, ensure research quality, and manage data effectively.
The CompNet Network works with associated institutions, data providers, and data users, guided by an advisory board chaired by Filippo di Mauro. It also collaborates with other academic networks to promote knowledge exchange.
Within IWH-CBPD, activities are structured around three core areas: CompNet, the Micro Data Infrastructure (MDI), and Research Support. These pillars are reinforced by contributions from IWH PhD and master’s students, as well as consultants affiliated with CompNet and MDI, ensuring strong academic and operational capacity.
The CompNet Scientific Team consists of senior researchers, PhD students, research analysts from IWH, and external consultants (including senior PhD students and a data analyst). The team is responsible for driving research on competitiveness and productivity using the CompNet dataset, organizing workshops and conferences, managing firm-level data collection, and implementing new methodologies and indicators. It also oversees the development and expansion of the Micro Data Infrastructure (MDI), further supporting the data-driven research agenda of CompNet.

The CompNet Scientific Team includes senior researchers, PhD students and research analysts from the IWH, as well as several external consultants (senior PhD students and one data analyst). The Team promotes research projects on competitiveness and productivity issues using the CompNet dataset; organizes workshops and conferences on these issues; manages the firm-level data collection as well as the implementation of new methodologies and indicators into the CompNet dataset, as well as the full implementation and expansion of the Micro Data Infrastructure (MDI).
