The organising committee Thomas Gehrig (University of Vienna), Michael Koetter (IWH & Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg), Thilo Pausch (Deutsche Bundesbank), and Peter Welzel (University of Augsburg) invite young academics (PhD students and postdocs) dealing with theoretical or theoretically founded empirical research on banks and financial markets to submit a paper or a project outline for presentation at the 10th Workshop Banks and Financial Markets taking place October 21-22, 2021 either at the Deutsche Bundesbank Conference Center in Eltville am Rhein or entirely online, contingent on the prevailing status of the Corona-virus pandemic. Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to: competition and risk-taking of individual banks, the (e)valuation of climate risks by financial institutions and in financial markets, the stability of the financial sector and its regulation, the role of real estate markets for financial system resilience.

The workshop aims at linking young economists interested in related topics. It provides a platform to exchange ideas and discuss recent contributions. Presentations, assigned comments and general discussions create an inspiring setting.

Submissions should be sent electronically to Thilo Pausch (thilo.pausch@bundesbank.de) and Stefan Mayer (stefan.mayer@wiwi.uni-augsburg.de) until August 15, 2021. Notifications of paper acceptances or rejections together with information on whether the workshop takes place in-person or online will be made by mid of September.

Accommodation and meals in the Deutsche Bundesbank Conference Center will be free of charge for all invited participants. It is further planned to contribute to travel costs of speakers. In addition, the Deutsche Bundesbank will organise a bus shuttle to Eltville departing from Frankfurt Main Station.

For further information do not hesitate to contact Stefan Mayer (stefan.mayer@wiwi.uni-ausgburg.de) or Thilo Pausch (thilo.pausch@bundesbank.de).

We assume that by submitting your paper and personal data, you agree that this information will be used exclusively for purposes of conference planning. The data and your paper will be passed to the scientific committee for the review process. After the conference, the data will be deleted.
