Research Output

CompNet has a strong and growing academic footprint. To date, CompNet members and external users of the CompNet dataset have published over 70 research papers, featured in a variety of working paper series and peer-reviewed academic journals

At the core of CompNet’s mission is the ambition to Strengthen the analytical framework for assessing competitiveness, Identify the key drivers behind the dynamics of competitiveness and productivity in EU countries and firms and Link competitiveness indicators to aggregate economic outcomes such as export performance and economic growth.

The ultimate objective of CompNet is to uncover the structural factors that enhance an economy’s long-term growth potential. This is achieved by exploring the interactions between instruments, mechanisms, and outcomes, using a comprehensive analytical strategy.

CompNet adopts a holistic approach, examining the topic of competitiveness across three interrelated dimensions Micro-level – firm-level productivity, innovation, and resource allocation, Macro-level – national policy, institutional settings, and structural reforms and Cross-border level – trade dynamics, value chains, and integration within the EU and beyond.
