The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association is organizing a workshop on "Challenges to Financial Stability" on August 30th and 31st, 2021. We aim for an in-person conference to be held in Halle (Saale), but will switch to a hybrid or virtual format if required by future pandemic developments.
Workshop topics include competition and risk-taking of individual banks, the (e)valuation of climate risks by financial institutions and in financial markets, the stability of the financial sector and its regulation and the role of real estate markets for financial system resilience. The workshop aims at linking young economists interested in related topics and provides a platform to exchange ideas and discuss recent contributions.

The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association and the FIRE research centre at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management are organising a joint workshop on "Challenges to Financial Stability" on August 19th and 20th, 2019, to be held in Halle (Saale). The workshop provides a platform to discuss changes in the regulatory framework of the financial sector, their impact on financial stability, and consequences for the real sector.
The workshop provided a platform to discuss new developments in the field of empirical and applied macroeconomic modelling and aimed at bringing together academic researchers and practitioners. We called for applied and theoretical papers dealing with time series, business cycles, economic uncertainty and expectations. Papers that explicitly covered the macroeconomic modelling on uncertainty and expectations were particularly welcome.
We show that occasional deviations from efficient wage-setting generate strong and statedependent amplication of exogenous uncertainty shocks and contribute to explain the observed countercyclicality of empirical measures of aggregate uncertainty.
