About CompNet
The Competitiveness Research Network (CompNet) is a research network founded in 2012 to foster the debate on competitiveness issues among partner institutions and researchers. It aims at providing a robust theoretical and empirical link between drivers of competitiveness and macroeconomic performance for research and policy analysis purposes.
Originally founded by the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), now sees as Partner Institutions the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Commission (EC), the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Tinbergen Institute.
The Steering Committee
The Steering Committee composed by representatives of each of the funding institutions, as well as data providers on a rotational basis – which sets the overall strategies of the Network

Filippo di Mauro is the Chairman of CompNet and Visiting Fellow at the Business School at National University of Singapore.

Ettore Dorrucci is the Deputy Chairman of CompNet and Head of the Convergence and Competitiveness Division of the European Central Bank.

Eric Bartelsman is Professor of Economics and General Director of the Tinbergen Institute.

Konstantins Benkovskis is Adviser at the Monetary Policy Department of the Bank of Latvia and Assistant Professor at Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

Ralph De Haas is Director of Research at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Associate Professor at Tilburg University.

Reint E. Gropp is President of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) and Professor of Economics at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

Eric Mamer is Director of the Department for Competitiveness and European Semester at the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs at the European Commission.

Mary V. Tovsak Pleterski is Director for the European and International Carbon Markets at the Directorate General for Climate Action at the European Commission.

Martin Suster is Director of the Research Department at National Bank of Slovakia.
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board formed by highly reputed scholars and lead by the ECB Vice President, Mr Constâncio, provides guidance on the CompNet research objectives.

Vitor Constancio is Vice-President of the European Central Bank.

Ufuk Akcigit is an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago.

Carlo Altomonte is an Associate Professor at the Bocconi University.

Eric Bartelsman is Professor of Economics and General Director of the Tinbergen Institute.

Marco Buti is Director General of DG Economic Financial Affairs at the European Commission.

William F. Maloney is Chief Economist for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions in the World Bank Group.

Marc Melitz is the David A. Wells Professor of Political Economy at Harvard University.

Gianmarco Ottaviano is Professor of Economics at London School of Economics.

Chad Syverson is the J. Baum Harris Professor of Economics at University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Executive Committee
An Executive Committee composed by a few individuals chosen by member institutions and led by a Director – which handles the daily management of the Network with the assistance of a Secretariat.

Paloma Lopez-Garcia is Senior Economist at the Convergence and Competitiveness Division of the European Central Bank.

Viktor Slavtchev is Head of the Research Group Innovation, Productivity, and Economic Dynamics at the IWH.
Scientific Staff
CompNet Scientific Staff is composed by graduate students who provide technical support to the members Executive Committee. They also carry on research projects on CompNet related topics and coordinate the Secretariat's work.

Research Assistants
CompNet Research Assistants are a number of master or bachelor students who are employed by the Network to provide critical help in all matters related to the management of the Network as well as research output. They form the CompNet Secretariat.
